THE
PRAIRIE DOG CENTRAL RAILWAY
A HERITAGE RAILWAY IN WINNIPEG, MANITOBA
CANADA
It all started when…
I grew up in a railway family. In fact, I am the first in four generations to not work for the railway. It’s something I sometimes feel guilt over. Not because of family being disappointed in me, but rather because I think working on the railway as a continued family tradition would be pretty dang cool. It’s every boys dream, right?
My grandfather - who spent 40 years with CN - took me on many excursions on locomotive No. 3 when it was based out of St James Station while I was growing up in the early 90s. This instilled in me a deep love of trains. Now as a 30 year old adult, not just photographing them, but also chasing trains in order to capture said photograph is a truly peace bringing activity for myself.
I have a number of photos I took over the past few summers of No.3, their vintage wooden coaches and their GP9 diesel locomotive that I'm very proud of. They are shown below. I hope you enjoy them.
